Periamet police have apprehended a 20-year-old man for attempting to sell ganja to undertrial prisoners at the metropolitan magistrate court complex in Allikulam, near Central railway station, on Tuesday.
Officers noticed two young men frequently engaging with undertrial prisoners and making numerous trips to the restroom. Acting on their suspicions, the police followed the duo to the bathroom, where they discovered packets of ganja hidden.
Investigations revealed that the pair had been selling the drugs to prisoners, with payments being made by the inmates’ friends or relatives. The arrested individual has been identified as Dilip (20) from Periamet, while authorities are still searching for his accomplice, Tyson.
