The price of commercial LPG cylinders in Chennai has been increased by ₹61.50

Last month, the price had already risen by ₹48, and it has surged again this month.

On Friday, the price of commercial LPG gas cylinders in Chennai increased significantly by ₹61.50. Starting today, a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder will cost ₹1,964.50 in the city. In contrast, the price of a 14 kg domestic LPG cylinder remains steady at ₹818.50. This follows a ₹48 hike last month, with prices rising again this month.

LPG rates are typically revised at the beginning of each month to reflect changes in international oil prices, domestic tax policies, and broader economic conditions. State-owned companies such as Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) implement these adjustments on the 1st of each month.

Additionally, the government has actively promoted the use of LPG cylinders for home cooking through initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, which provides subsidies to eligible families. This encourages the adoption of cleaner cooking fuels and aims to enhance living standards.
