Sundal for Vinayaka Chathurthi


Brown channa dhal - 250 gm
Red chillies – 3
Green chillies – 3
Asafoetida powder - 1 spoon
Oil - 4 spoons
Mustard - 1 spoon
Grated coconut - 2 cups
Curry leaves - A bunch
Salt to taste


Wash and soak the channa dhal in water overnight. Cook it for half-an-hour the next day.

In a pan, splutter mustard and add the red and green chillies. Put cooked channa dhal and add salt, asafoetida powder and stir for some time. Add grated coconut and curry leaves and stir till it mixes well.

Sundal is ready for Lord Vinayaka.
