2018 Dakar Rally

  The race will start on January 6.

 

Eduardo Ferreyros, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, officially presented the 2018 Dakar Rally, which next year will celebrate its 40th edition. Having Lima as the venue for the start, this event will put Peru in the eye of about 190 million viewers around the world.

 

“Dakar Rally returns to our country and we want this to be a celebration for all Peruvians. This race is a perfect international platform to show that we can organize top-level sports events and also to show the warmth of our people and our biodiversity. The dunes of the coast, the valleys of the Andes and the Puna high plateau will be seen" said Minister Ferreyros. These statements were made at the launch event, which was also attended by Luis Castañeda, mayor of Lima, and representatives from the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of the Interior and the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD). Finally, the Peruvian pilots and co-drivers who will seek to leave the name of the country at the top were introduced.

 

Ferreyros also detailed some of the promotional actions that will be carried out within the framework of this competition. In this regard, the Gastronomic Fair “Peru, Mucho Gusto” will be held in Pisco (on January 6 and 7) and Puno (on January 10 and 11), and visitors will be able to experience the best of Peruvian cuisine while enjoying the most important rally in the world.

1st stage: January 6 / Lima - Pisco
2nd stage: January 7 / Pisco - Pisco
3rd stage: January 8 / Pisco - San Juan de Marcona
4th stage: January 9 / San Juan de Marcona - San Juan de Marcona
5th stage: January 10 / San Juan de Marcona - Arequipa
