So, if you are planning on a pre-wedding holiday, choose a destination that’s a shopping haven and heaven. And what’s better than California? After all, here’s where the most stylish people in the world live and where star shop! Rest assured that you will be grabbing the best of shopping one can actually think of.

If you’re into serious designer shopping, and ready to whip out the platinum card, head to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, home to Chanel, Giorgio Armani, and other mega-designer boutiques. Nearby Robertson Boulevard also have chic boutiques. Just east of Beverly Hills, upscale The Grove, across the street from the popular Original Farmers Market, has a village atmosphere, with a fountain-filled park and leafy outdoor cafes. Stroll Through Beverly Hills and refresh your closet, something for every style. When you peer through the glass at Chanel, you’ll spot the finest quilted handbags on the market. Step into Hermes and you will be surrounded by their signature silk scarves, in all colors and prints.  If you’re in search of that perfect brown monogrammed leather wallet, you can admire the collection at Louis Vuitton. And don’t forget to head to Brighton Way toward Beverly Drive to find its fashion-forward boutiques and up and coming designers!

For celeb-spotting while you shop, aim for Montana Avenue in Santa Monica. The open-air Santa Monica Place features trendy boutiques and a rooftop dining deck with ocean views, as well as famous faces! Just south is Venice Beach’s fun and funky Abbot Kinney Boulevard, home to hip clothiers, galleries, and oh-so-cool restaurants and cafes. Start downtown at Santa Monica Place. This luxury Santa Monica shopping area houses world-renowned anchor stores such as Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Louis Vuitton, Nike, Tiffany & Co., and Barneys Co-Op. It’s also home to Benedetta, an organic skincare shop located only in Santa Monica and San Francisco. Plus, with Santa Monica Place’s same-day delivery service, you can feel free to buy as much as you want—without the worry of the how to haul it all back to your hotel.

Just a block north of Santa Monica Place is the Third Street Promenade in the heat of Downtown Santa Monica, which runs from Wilshire down to Broadway. The popular, pedestrian friendly Third Street Promenade is full of with big-name chains and a lively feel. It is closed for cars since 1965, making it a pedestrian-friendly shopping haven. Though it’s mostly lined with more mainstream clothing stores, it maintains a distinctly Southern California vibe. As you relax on a bench surrounded by palm trees and beautiful planted flowers, you can take in the talents of various street performers who flock to the three-block stretch.

With a widespread public transportation system and plenty of dedicated bike lanes, it’s incredibly easy to get—and shop—around, Santa Monica. Just be sure to take advantage of delivery services, or bring a friend along to help carry the bags.

With bucket-list magnets like Rodeo Drive and Montana Avenue, California has undeniable star power when it comes to shopping. But all those fashion finds don’t have to come with hefty price tags. The state’s top outlet malls, featuring superstar big-name brands (think Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Armani, Prada, and Kate Spade) offer top-quality clothes, house wares, and accessories at dramatic discounts.

The only thing better than scoring the perfect outfit or designer shoes is to get them for a bargain price. That’s why shopping in the Inland Empire can be so sweet—it’s a hot bed of top-quality outlet centers filled with designer and brand name finds.

Biggest of the bunch is Ontario Mills, California’s largest outlet center. With more than 200 stores, it literally has brand names from A (Abercrombie & Fitch) to Z (Zumiez). Look for great deals in for clothes and shoes for men, women, and children, plus accessories, electronics, sporting goods, and home wares. There’s also a big selection at the Lake Elsinore Outlet Center, where you’ll find deals at stores for Nike, Gap, and Guess Armani.

Thanks to its many farms and annual festival, Gilroy has earned the title of “Garlic Capital of the World.” But this Central Coast town is also a prime shopping destination, with the expansive Gilroy Premium Outlets offering 145 stores featuring leading brands and designers.

Some 84 miles/135km south of San Francisco and 41 miles/66km northeast of Monterey, the outlets make a great stop as you travel along U.S. Highway 101. Look for deals from such classics as Calvin Klein and Brooks Brothers. And the shoe selection ranges from casual Crocs to classy Cole Haan.

If you’re heading from the San Francisco Bay Area to Sacramento or Lake Tahoe, take a break and check out more than 120 stores at the impressive Vacaville Premium Outlets.
