Gleneagles Global Health City, Chennai

Gleneagles Global Health City, the largest facility of Gleneagles Global Hospitals, a Parkway Pantai enterprise, today launched the State’s first ever “Advanced Centre for Epilepsy” which will provide highest level of care to people with epilepsy and other seizure disorders including curative epilepsy surgery. The centre is spearheaded by Dr Dinesh Nayak, Director, Neurology, Gleneagles Global Advanced Centre for Epilepsy and his team of experts. The centre was inaugurated by Dr J Radhakrishnan, IAS, Principal Secretary, Health & Family welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu along with other guests of honourProf G Arjundas, Prof S Kalayanaraman and Prof M B Pranesh.


Speaking at the Inauguration Dr Dinesh Nayak said “The Objective of creating this advanced centre is to provide all treatment related to epilepsy under one roof with the state of the art infrastructure, medical equipments and medical professionals with unparalleled expertise in the field of epilepsy. The centre aims to provide best possible quality of life to patients with epilepsy”.


While speaking on the occasion, Dr J Radhakrishnan, IAS, Principal Secretary, Health & Family welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu lauded the efforts of Gleneagles Global Health City and mentioned that the state strives to ensure that state-of-the-art healthcare is provided by strengthening of its public healthcare facility on one side and having a vibrant public private partnership through the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance scheme. Specifically the Gleneagles Global Advanced Centre for Epilepsy will go long way in providing relief and care to such patients.


Gleneagles Global Advanced Centre for Epilepsy, is the only centre in Chennai and Tamil Nadu to regularly perform epilepsy surgery across age groups (infants, children and adults). Also, it is one of the few level 4 epilepsy surgery centres in India that performs complex epilepsy surgeries in patients with MRI negative epilepsy (patients with uncontrolled epilepsy and normal MRI scans) using latest stereo-EEG techniques. Latest technology is used to localise seizure focus precisely during stereo-EEG monitoring wherein thin wire like electrodes are implanted into the brain to study the seizure networks. Ours is the busiest epilepsy monitoring unit in Chennai, doing round the clock long term video- EEG for monitoring of seizures.
