3rd Neurosciences Master Class at Glenagles global Hospital

 

~ The Neurosciences Master Class was held on the 18th and 19th of November in association with the Indian Association of Pediatrics – Tamil Nadu State Chapter ~

 

  Gleneagles Global Health City, the largest facility of Gleneagles Global Hospitals, a Parkway Pantai enterprise, organized the 3rd Neurosciences Master class in association with the Indian Association of Pediatrics – Tamil Nadu State chapter. The Conference took place at the ITC Grand Chola on the 18th and 19th of November with the main focus area being Pediatric Neuro Care. The Neurosciences Master Class was spear headed by Dr. K Sridhar, Director, Institute of Neurosciences and Spinal Disorders, Gleneagles Global Health City, with other experts in the Neurosciences field such as Dr V Ponniah, Head, Neuro Aneathesia and Neuro Critical Care, and Dr V Murugan, Pediatric Neurologist. The highlight of the conference was a lecture on Fetal Neurosurgery from Dr Samer Elbabaa from Florida, USA.  Prof AK Banerji delivered the prestigious Prof Dr B Ramamurthi Oration which is an annual event held under the aegis of the Advanced Neuroscience Foundation Trust to remember and honour the pioneer of Neurosciences in India. Dr K Ravindranath, Chairman & Founder, Gleneagles Global Hospitals inaugurated the 3rd Neurosciences Master Class in the presence of Dr A Somasundaram, Secretary, Indian Association of Pediatrics- Tamil Nadu State Chapter and Dr TN Ravisankar, President IMA Tamil Nadu. 

 

Neurological problems in childhood represent a gamut of pathologies ranging from congenial issue to trauma. The growing brain is extremely delicate and needs to be looked after with diligence as how it is handled can affect the future of the child. The 3rd Neurosciences Master Class format included interactive case based discussions in order to facilitate audience interaction with an aims to create a consensus for the management protocols of common Childhood brain problems and highlight the need for prevention and early treatment of these problems.

 

Dr K Sridhar, Director Institute of Neurosciences and Spinal Disorders, Gleneagles Global Health City said, “Tremendous advances have been made in the management of childhood neurological problems such that these children can be offered the chance the live a normal or near normal life and grow to be useful members of society. We need to provide children with afflictions of the nervous system that opportunity by preventing the problems that are preventable and starting treatment early on for the others.”

 

During his lecture on Fetal Neurology, Dr Samer Elbabaa, said, “A lot of research has gone into preventing and reducing problems caused by congenital Anomalies of the nervous system like meningomyelocele. It is now possible to repair these defects during the Fetal stage of life to reduce the potentially disastrous effects that may result. I am very glad that Dr K Sridhar has chosen to highlight this to the medical and social community and I hope that he will be able to start performing these surgeries in Chennai in the near future. ”
