                   Horse Gram


Everyone needs spicy foods with their diets but not every spicy food is good for dietetics. But some dishes which we can prepare spicier and also we can include in our daily dietetics. Horse gram chutney is made from horse gram, which is more important to be part in our daily diet. Horse gram is the most protein-rich lentil, and it is very rich high powdered. Horse gram may not be interesting by its name but its qualities are undeniably wonderful which is high in iron, calcium, and protein. in fact, horse gram has the highest calcium content among pulses and is one of the richest vegetarian sources of protein it is low in fat and high in carbohydrate content so adding horse gram in our daily diet helps to melt fat faster. so do try this delicious spicy chutney which goes well with various south Indian dishes.


  • ¼ cup of horse gram
  • coconut oil
  • 10 shallots
  • red chillies
  • 4-5 garlic cloves
  • small pinch of tamarind
  • roasted gram dhal
  • grated coconut
  • salt

For seasoning

  • oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • curry leaves
  • 2 teaspoon split urad dal
  • 1 red chilli




Take a pan heat the pan add horse gram roast the horse gram till it becomes red colour and keep it aside let it dry and take a another pan add one teaspoon of oil to it, then add ten shallots or baby onions and 3-4 add red chillies and 4-5 garlic cloves fry that ingredients for couple of minutes and add pinch of tamarind to it and again let it fry for one minute  and then add roasted horse gram and this mixture to the mixer and grind well and the horse gram chutney is ready for seasoning take a pan add oil and then add mustard seed to it and urad dal and on red chilli and few curry leaves and added to the chutney now the healthier horse gram chutney is ready for serving
