Anuradha’s Guava Leaf Thattai

Ingredients

Rice – 400 gm

Moong dhal - 50 gm

Sugar - 150 gm

Coconut milk - 1 cup

Butter - 4 spoons

White sesame seeds - 1 spoon

Oil - 1 kg

Guava leaves - A bunch

Salt to taste

Method

Wash and soak the rice in water for an hour. Drain it and grind it finely in a mixer – dry. Sieve the flour.

Grind moong dhal in the mixer finely. Add salt, butter and sesame seeds to the rice and moog dhal flour and mix well.

Extract coconut milk from the grated coconut. Add sugar to it and heat it in low flame and when there is effervescence, sprinkle the mixture (flour) on it and mix well. The dough is ready.

Wash and wipe the guava leaves .Heat the oil, prepare small balls out of the dough and spread it like a circle on the guava leaf and put it in the oil gently. Take out the guava leaf after some time.

Turn both sides till it turns golden in colour and drain it.
