SHIVAANJALI" by Sugathan

Recently The Mylapore Trio and Sugathan were blessed to visit “Ninaithaale Mukthi Tharum Thiruthalam THIRUVANNAMALAI” Sri Arunachaleswarar Temple Thiruvannamalai during the most revered KARTHGAI BRAHMOTSAVAM FESTIVAL. Sugathan was privileged to perform on the theme “Shivaanjali” – A Naatya Arpan to Lord Shiva on the second day of the Brahmotsavam, which happened to be the 130th “Kala Poshakam” of the Foundation. Sugathan was the one and only Male dancer and Solo performer in the whole 10 day event. All his dance items were selectively chosen to resonate five holy forms of Lord Shiva which included Thirukoneeswarar Kowthwam, Arthanareeswaram, Nagendraharaya, Shankara Srigiri and Ganga Stotram. His presentation was inundated with bhakthi rasa and his dance numbers were of different styles and genres which left the audience with awe. At the end of the programme the temple organizer - an Octogenarian Tamil Scholor honoured and blessed Sugathan by comparing his dance with that of Lord Shiva by quoting the verses from Manickavasagar’s Thiruvasagam… “Kunitha Puruvamum Kovai Sevaayum Panitha Sadayum Pavazhampol Meniyum, Paal Venneeerum…”. The audience were amazed with the metaphor and simile - applauded and supplemented the view. It was a great blessing for the Mylapore Trio and Sugathan to have the darshan of Adhikaara Nandhi Sevai of Arunachaleeswara first day evening of the 10 day Utsavam. It was of special significance for Sugathan since he has performed in front of Adhikaara Nandhi at Mylapore.
