Sangita Kalanidhi Ramachandran

On the occasion of the Sadas of Music Academy, which concludes its music festival, Madras High Court judge Justice V. Ramasubramanian conferred the Sangita Kalanidhi award on vocalist Trichur V. Ramachandran on January 1, 2013.

Vocalist Trichur Ramachandran is a prime disciple of the legendary singer, G N Balasubramaniam.

In an interesting speech after awarding the vocalist, the judge requested that the biographies of 400 musicians, penned by ‘Tamil Thatha’ U V Swaminatha Iyer, be published.

Music Academy president N Murali welcomed the gathering and chitravina exponent N. Ravikiran felicitated the awardee.

Earlier, Justice Ramasubramanian conferred the Sangita Kala Acharya award on J Venkatraman and T Rukmini. The TTK awards were presented to Mullapudi Sree Rama Murthy and K S Raghunathan and the musicologist award went to Ritha Rajan.
